i got a new problem i recently updated my homebrew channel (version 7) to the newest version (1.0.3) i was new to this
“hackmii installer” so installed the new hbc and DVDx and i forgot to install bootmii now when i load this is says it can’t continue. So can you send me the BOOTmii folder that is created on the SD card. if that is possible. please respond, thank you.

That will not work. You need to install BootMii on the Wii, not your SD card. Otherwise you would have to open the Homebrew Channel everytime you wanted to open BootMii, and then the purpose of BootMii (to protect against bricking/messing up your Wii) would be rendered useless. Go to the first link in the video description, and download the HackMii installer. Put it on your SD card, open Homebrew Channel and run the installer. You should be able to install BootMii from there, as boot2 or as IOS.

I hope you wouldn’t mind uploading one of your nand dumps for unbricking Wiis with. I just need the first few megabytes of it (the part with Bootmii boot2) since that works on all consoles regardless of keys.

how did you change your wii background?

Greenrat55June 14th, 2009 at 1:45 am

Hello, I followed you tutorial but when I restart my Wii it boots the Wii os rather than Bootmii, (that’s using the boot2 install) I can use the IOS install and load bootmii from the HBC but from what I have read that is no good if your wii bricks. could you please advise.

Awesome tutorial man!told me exactly what i needed to know about this bootmii :-)

markusccJune 25th, 2009 at 2:22 am

From what i read you can’t use bootmii untill after you are pretty much finished soft modding your wii anyways. It can interfere with installing a cIOS. So what the hell is the point of protecting from a brick if you can’t even use it until after the threat of bricking it is pretty much non existent?

djdirtzzJune 25th, 2009 at 3:35 am

because if you regular mess aound with your wii we all do we are constantly installing apps that patch and replace vital files needed to run the firmware

i ran cioscorp today that smashed my IOS’s to bits mashing my system menu up completely!
i had just installed this bootmii like 30 mins b4!! so i was saved! and able to run a firmware downgrader to re install my firmware.

Greenrat55June 25th, 2009 at 6:31 pm

I found that the main problem for people who “cant” get bootmii to boot is due to the SD card they are using, it took 3 different SD cards to find one that would work for me.

Metaldragon455June 26th, 2009 at 8:51 pm
